Blogger was founded in the year 1999 by Pyra
Labs and later on acquired by Google in 2003. By 2006 up to date, every account
was hosted on Google’s servers, making the platform a lot more reliable and
efficient. However, a lot of people have been criticizing the platform due to
lack of its upgrade or in short lack of consideration by the company to the
platform when compared to other platforms like WordPress, Wix, and
Joomla.
Blogger
or BlogSpot?
Well, before we proceed, let’s clear up a big
confusion regarding the terms Blogger and BlogSpot.
Blogger is a free publishing platform, while
on the other hand, BlogSpot is a free domain service provider that works
perfectly. They’re both owned and managed by Google and are used together on
the Blogger platform.
Try entering blogspot.com to your browser URL
bar
So Whenever you created your blog on Blogger
for the first time, you’ll automatically get a BlogSpot domain for free this
means that a free domain with an extension of BlogSpot will be attached to your
newly created blog. It is not compulsory that you must use the BlogSpot domain;
you can also add your own custom domain if you wish and if you can afford to do
so.
Blogger
finally Gets New features
Yesterday I was trying to check one of my
blog hosted on blogger and I realize there are some few new features added to
the platform. Initially, the feature became available to everyone without any
official release, the company wanted to improve the user experience and also to
detect some issues before pushing it more broadly. I am very sure that there is
hope for blogger users like me soon the platform will
compete with some of the most popular open-source platforms like
WordPress.
What
are the big changes?
The company has successfully been able to
introduce a new interface and also added some cool features too:
- Stats Section
- Themes Section and also
- The Comment Section
The Stats: The latest stats section allows you to track all your blog visitors based on the daily visit,
entire time visit, current month and also last month visit. The new Stats introduced
in blogger has the same feature with the previous version but though the section has a new design, new structure and also new cool feature was
introduced such as a graph for a single post and the entire blog visit graph.
New Theme Design: Before there were very limited and boring themes in the
platform but as for now Google Team has successfully been able to introduce a
very cool, awesome and well attractive themes to their blogger's users which
will enable them to create a well responsive blog or website without purchasing
any paid theme from other third party websites.
The Comment: This
section enables you to view all comments that are dropped in your blog posts.
The new comment section allows you to see all your comments in a single page such
as the total number of comments on the blog, you can also sort your blog
comments based on Awaiting moderation, Published and spam.
Any Changes Regarding Blogger SEO?
As for now, I am not really sure if the company have made any changes regarding the SEO of the platform since there is
no, any official release, but we are hoping to hear good news from the team.
But based on my own opinion blogger is working fine when it comes to Search
Engine Optimization (SEO) your rankings determine how you optimize your blog
post title, meta description and also URL. As far as you follow the correct practice you would definitely get rank
well in the search engines.
How Would I Get This
New Feature To My Dashboard?
It is
available to everybody you just need to make it active in your account and to
make that happen, It is quite simple and straight forward steps just log into
your dashboard. At the sidebar of your screen scroll a little bit to the end and
you will find where it said “Try The
New Blogger!”
Click on it a new window will pop just click on “continue”
to proceed.
Well, based on my view and
experienced on the latest blogger design, the team combined some current
features of comments and stats in the platform into one single area so as to
make it well organized and user-friendly. However, a lot of more features
are to be introduced very soon as there are still working on it.
Those are the new features that
I could be able to find as for now. Do you find another featured in the latest
Blogger Design which is not discussed in this article? Kindly do let us know in
the comment section below and if you found this post helpfully kindly share it
with your lovely ones. Thanks and Happy
Blogging!
